I took a flight on July 12, 2013, from Paris CDG to Tokyo Narita, with a stopover in Moscow. I had no problems in particular. The plane had a 10-minute delay at departure from Moscow, but still arrived on time.
The seats are not the most comfortable ever, but if you have no back problems, they’re good enough. Individual screens between Moscow and Tokyo, with movies in Russian or English, some games, music, and TV shows.
Meal quality was good, but it also wasn't gourmet cuisine and portions were not large enough for big eaters.
No problems at take-off and landings. Only complaint: air conditioning was too strong. I had no problems checking in or boarding (attention, though, Moscow’s airport seems to be specialized in the art of changing boarding gates 10 minutes before boarding!).
My bags weren't lost neither on the way there, nor on the way back!
On the other hand, the flight attendants spoke (mostly) very little English.
- Wrap your bags. That’s what I did, for 10 €. I have heard that when bags disappear in Moscow, it’s because employees saw interesting things to steal on the x-ray machine. Legend or not, it’s better not to risk it.
- Consider bringing a sweater for the flight!
