I took a flight of one hour twenty minutes aboard a Bangkok Airways plane to get to Bangkok from Chiang Mai, a city in northern Thailand. I often get nervous on planes, even more so in small, short-haul ones. I was surprised by the quality of the flight. Straight-forward, on time and calm (it wasn't full).
Check-in was well managed. We boarded quite smoothly, very little wait. The plane left exactly on time.
On board service:
The on board service was impeccable, stewards and hostesses were top class. Smiling, and probably available to serve (I had no reason to ask them for anything). We were even served a meal, on a flight of 1 hr 20 mins. I was genuinely surprised. To be honest, the meal wasn't terrific, but we were content with it, we'd already eaten previously.
Nothing struck me negatively about the plane in terms of standards and maintenance, I didn't pay much attention to these aspects. On the other hand, if anything alarming had happened at any time, I think I would have a strong memory of it. Take-off and landing were impeccable; it should be noted that the weather was fine. The plane was fairly quiet, and reassuring in noise terms. The seats are comfortable, even though they're configured for short distances, and the plane was clean.
On board entertainment:
And so to entertainment; not exactly much on offer, though at the same it is a short-haul plane. I don't remember (it's already a few months ago now) us having personal screens. There were little shared screens above the seats, which, while we waited for take-off, showed advertisements for the airline, which were quite folkloric. We had quite a good laugh.
As a final point, we we able to retrieve our luggage very quickly.
