For this vacation, we took the short Lyon-Vienna flight operated by Austrian, which offers direct flights in a Dash 8.
The flight took off punctually at 10 AM. The plane was comfortable, pleasing, even if the cabin was already a little old. The leg room was enough for two hours of flight (I measure a little more than 1.85m). Since it’s a propeller plane, the only problem is the noise – it is tolerable, though.
There was no in-flight movie or any other sort of entertainment during the flight. There was only some music playing before take-off. Onboard, they offered us newspapers for free, which was good, considering that most airlines have this service only on the ground.
As is often the case in this type of flight, crackers and drinks were served as a snack. The quantity was sufficient for the time of the flight.
The plane took off and arrived on time. The Vienna airport is very nice and easy to get around. The pilots made regular announcements during the flight – nothing to say on this respect.
The only thing that could be improved: the safety instructions, which should be given before the engines are turned on, since it is difficult to understand them in the conditions in which they are presented. A pity.
This was a nice flight and a good preparation for all that I experienced during my ten days in Austria and Bavaria!
