I was travelling from Delhi to London via Flight KU384 & KU101. I did the booking of one way flight to London. I did the online check in and got the boarding card t&C on it. When I reached the desk for baggage drop, I was told by airline staff to show the return flight ticket. I am currently 59 years old and was travelling alone for the first time out of India on family visit visa and as per UK Immigration laws and UK border Agency regulation, it is not required to book return flight ticket before coming to UK. I explain this to staff and his supervisor, that I am flying to UK and its not required to book the return flight as per regulation and its outside there authority to stop me. They denied this and keep on forcing me to book the return flight on the spot. They also indirectly suggested me to book the Kuwait airways flight. I went to state of shock, shaken and standing helpless andlost the ability to take any decision.
I had contacted customer care and also went through their complaint procedure but they never explained why did they are forcing these false immigration rules to passengers
1. The copy of rules and regulation stating in the UK Immigration and Border agency which you were enforcing on passenger.
2. If there is any such law by UK Border Agency or UK immigration control, then who authorized Kuwait Airline to enforce this. This can only be enforced by immigration officers in India before departure or by UK Immigration officers on arrival in UK
FYI none of the immigration (India and UK) demanded any kind of return ticket. Also while applying visitor visa UK suggest not to book any airline before VISA approval.
