This was a business class flight on a large plane that was really old. Iberia was offering two flights from London Heathrow to Madrid around the same time: a 7:10 pm flight in a huge old plane (old exterior design) and a 7:20 pm flight in a small and brand new plane (new exterior design). I wanted to test the business class cabin on an IB jumbo jet, so I took the 7:10 pm flight.
The plane left from Terminal 5 Satellite C, which is still far from everything (you have to get there via train shuttle). British Airways managed the boarding. This meant they perfectly followed the order of priority, and then of rows.
On board the cabin was almost empty. There were few passengers and no crew. Still, we finally got a pillow and a blanket. There was no beverage when we arrived (nor any welcome at all either). Just a long wait, safety demonstrations on a screen and a takeoff with some turbulence.
The food service was much better and well thought out. Cava, wine list, and a choice of two hot entrees served with salad, cheese and dessert. It was on a tray, yes, but well presented and without plastic covering. Tea or coffee with chocolate followed, on a separate plate.
Even though the seat wasn't new and remained very short after it reclined (too short for me to stretch out my 6'1" frame) it was obviously better than the usual business class seats in Europe (which are standard economy class seats without a neighbor).
There was no in-flight entertainment; the screen I had only displayed the Iberia logo. As a result I chose to sleep until the end of the flight.
Arrival in Madrid T4S was on time, and we went to the lounge before continuing out trip (Lima).
