Nice flight, but bad management by ADP

Review of AirNapoleon about the flight Niki HG8514 between Vienna and Paris Charles De Gaulle on 03/03/2014 in Economy

The airline Niki (affiliated to Air Berlin) is a known low-cost, but its Vienna-Paris flight Monday morning was the first to leave the airport. As such, you could find suited-up passengers who were seduced by the time. Also, the space between the seats is comfortable, the coffee is complimentary, and the OneWorld card gives you priority boarding and miles. It’s basically only the price of the tickets and the arrival at Roissy’s T3 that justify the low-cost reputation. And although T3 kind of looks like a paper hangar, disembarkation is more practical there than in 2D’s narrow side corridors, the barrel-shaped T1, or the end of 2E, from where you have to walk 3km from the door of the airplane to the door of the taxi cab.

The problem is that we’re still in an ADP terminal, meaning that the image of French-style luxury is emphasized over providing quality service. Amazing how people can be surprised that it always ranks as one of the least loved airports by foreign travelers. Pretentious luxury and awful service – it’s no wonder. The accessibility of the taxis illustrates this point.
Since this is the first flight that takes-off from Vienna, the Niki plane transports business passengers who have no luggage and are in a hurry to get to the city center. Disembarkation is efficiently made by bus, which takes passengers to a conveyor belt whose exit leads directly to the taxi stop. Only there are no taxis: just a line of passengers who are losing their time. Actually, the taxi dispatcher only called up vehicles form the far-away base when the bags were delivered. This happens even if, week after week, the person in the yellow safety vest whose job it is to coordinate the access to taxis notices that there are passengers with no luggage on the flight, with the currently adopted strategy being thus inadequate. He uses his walkie-talkie to ask the dispatcher for some taxis “in advance,” and you have to wait 7 or 8 minutes for the first one to show up.

Only ADP qualifies as “in advance” the arrival of taxis when there is already a line of 10 people waiting. This allows clandestine cabs to solicit for clients, official cabbies to complain and go on strike, and passengers to confirm that ADP deserves its place in the bottom of the rankings.

C'est vrai que les bagages qui arrivent avant l'heure estimée sur les écrans, j'en ai fait l'expérience récemment au T3 sur ce vol justement, ça doit même étonner les employés d'ADP!
