The worst airline when a flight's cancelled

Note: This review is about an experience that happened more than 3 years ago.

Yesterday we were supposed to fly from Florence to Geneva at 8:35 pm. They announced a one hour delay, then a little later, around 9:00 pm, they announced the flight had been cancelled.

At Geneva, however, the flight had already been cancelled for quite some time. We were then made to wait until a little before midnight before they got us into a hotel they'd reserved 10 min before (according to hotel staff).

After taking three hours to find us a hotel, we then had to pay for the taxi ourselves.
At 9:00 in the morning they took us to the airport to then leave us waiting again with nothing arranged. The very few ground staff around hadn't received any instructions and didn't know what to do. Fortunately, and thanks to the kindness of the other passengers, who let us have priority because we were travelling with a child, we got a flight at 12:35 pm. The other passengers had to wait until 4:30 pm because they'd promised them a flight then. I hope they kept to that, because they weren't willing to provide written confirmation.
