I made an offer for an upgrade (a bidding system) but unfortunately business class was full.
However, the plane was only about 70% full in economy class, and since I was a GOLD guest they gave me 2 seats (even 3 at the back if I had wanted).
We had access to the All Nippon Airways (ANA) lounge, but there was a limited choice of food and the noodle bar was closed, which was disappointing. Otherwise the lounge was spacious and comfortable.
Takeoff was on time.
Dinner was very good, served in first class (attention from the flight crew for the Gold guests), and there was an e-box for movie programming.
The A330 was very recent -among the latest provided to Etihad- with very comfortable and firm seats that were equipped with outlets and, USB ports.
This was my longest flight with Etihad: 11 hours and 30 minutes (less than the expected 12 hours).
