Félicitation vous m'avez fais baver !
Friday the 13th, my lucky day: Business class reservation on Dubai-Bangkok with Emirates, I am upgraded to first class, with lots of tact and, undoubtedly, lots of commercial intelligence too.
The flight is on time and the crew speak eight or nine languages.
I settle into suite 2E, with its exaggerated comfort, its gilt decor, its massage chair (with mattress and quilt for bed mode), its hugh touch screen and its remote console, its shelf with mirror and toiletries, its basket of snacks, its writing desk (drawer with pen and paper), its mini-bar and its various lighting options. I am also brought pyjamas and a leather toiletry bag (with razor, shaving foam, deodorant, toothbrush etc.) that was almost the size of a suitcase.
The menu is varied, the meal served at the time the passenger wishes and the accompaniments can be suited to preference. I choose to eat at the beginning of the flight with soup, chicken, a selection of cheeses and a cake. Everything is served with class, not a foot wrong. Except perhaps the snack basket that was removed and put back before and after takeoff, rather ceremoniously for three chocolates and some mints, since there is also a mini-bar, a bar at the front of the plane and the very obliging crew bring anything you want.
The seat is comfortable; it lowers quickly (compared with those other airlines where you have to press the button for 30 seconds to reach bed position). The only fault is, without doubt, the lack of luggage compartment (in central suites). You have to store them under the screen shelf.
IFE offers lots of choice in films and music, including in French and also a direct selection of films by language (and not by genre), which seems intelligent to me.
In short, Emirates stands out - as if it needs saying - among the excellent airlines. However, I had chosen it for its reasonable price. It seems paradoxical to pay 2 times less than a place on board an old airline to have 10 times better.
And even if I am not normally a fan of gilt, I appreciated the decor.
I only want one thing more: to travel again with Emirates, in a Business A380 suite! Newer and even more spacious... even if I did like cabin 777 with 8 suites, most comfortable and welcoming.
