The direct flight from Paris to New York with OpenSkies was nice and punctual. We departed from Orly West, and the aircraft was small (66 seats in economy class) and on that day it was half empty (and this was in the month of August).
These may be the only benefits: the plane is very old (put into service in 1991, window shutters do not close). They do distribute iPads (as they were unable to install screens in the seats), but in the end this is not very practical. On the one hand, it is not very manageable. On the other, you can't track the position of the airplane (which is a shame on a transatlantic flight).
The captain didn't give out information other than during takeoff and landing. The latter was also very rough. The crew was unexceptional; the food was mediocre.
In short, it's a cheap flight to the Big Apple. While it's true that with Iberia (a partner of OpenSkies and BA) I managed to find a 450-euro roundtrip in January, it's not worth more than that! We are very, very far from normal transatlantic flights like those of AF or Swiss.
