Rapid service without ever sacrificing quality

Review of AirNapoleon about the flight Cathay Pacific CX920 between Cebu and Hong Kong on 19/08/2013 in Business

It is on short flights that a good crew shows its quality. It is shown by their good organizational skills and the company's ability to offer a high quality service at all times.

On a 2.5-hour flight, Cathay Pacific offers an almost full service meal to business class customers (the choice of starter and dessert is still more limited than on longer flights).

Accompanying passengers to their seats, providing and distributing blankets, offering welcoming refreshments and refreshing towels, distributing menus, greeting each passenger by name. Checking belts, serving a drink soon after take-off, a starter and drink, hot dish (4 choices with cutlery or chopsticks) and drink and dessert (ice-cream), plus coffee or tea. All dishes are served by staff who call each passenger by name. Then there is a fresh opportunity to receive a blanket, reduced cabin lighting for an hour of rest, preparation for landing and personalized greetings after the flight.

Frankly, it takes an effective and coordinated crew to manage to cram in all this on a short flight, without appearing aggressive or pushy and without losing a minute to leave themselves a little time to rest. And I found the perfect example of one.

Even though I do not like cabins organized on a diagonal (as was the case on this flight ) and found the seat-belt check before take-off and before landing to be very intrusive (the seats are angled, so they are on a diagonal relative to the direction of travel, furthermore, in addition to the waist belt, there is a car-type seatbelt, which is attached for you by the cabin staff).

With regards to the waiting time at the airport, the PAL lounge at Cebu is a bit basic and noisy (a Philippine welcome!) But it offers some hot food and many cakes and fruits.

On boarding, there really is a priority, because business-class passengers and frequent flyers wait in a separate area, with first access to the plane. With regards to the seat , the orientation on the diagonal (which is not very conducive to travelling in pairs, since each seat is separated from its neighbours by a wall and therefore has a view of the feet of one's fellow flyers, cf. the photos below ), I really appreciated the pillow attached to the headrest, in addition to the seat cushion and we must admit that the screen is very large.

Finally, as regards the timeliness and convenience of flight, I have no complaints, despite unfavourable weather and therefore some turbulence, but for this we can not blame the company.
In conclusion, Cathay Pacific gives a 2 hour 30 minute demonstration of its superiority over other companies who on the 11-hour Paris - Hong Kong flight for example (see one of my previous flights) do not offer half the level of service. They deserve their reputation, I recommend them!
