Having had a trouble-free flight to Jersey the previous week, we arrived to check in. Flybe had already telephoned me about rescheduling the time of departure and were very polite and helpful, also apologetic. We checked in without problem and no queues. I was witness to a passenger checking in at the next desk and he was being so verbally abusive to staff that it attracted my attention. He had not booked any Hold Baggage but had decided to bring one for his return journey so he was being charged excess. He went mad. I could not believe how rude and unnecessary his behaviour was. The Flybe official remained calm and courteous, explaining why he was being charged. Then the man swore at him, which was very intimidating, a quick phone call was made and two other officials arrived. Well done to Flybe! it was an example of what airport officials (and many other staff dealing with the public in general) have to contend with. Disgraceful. Personally, I would not have wanted to be on a flight with anyone who threw such rages and if this man recognises himself, I'd strongly suggest that he take therapy for anger management issues.
