Hello everyone,

I arrived at the Centrale at around 9 o’clock. I made my way to piazza Savoia to catch a bus towards Malpensa.

After about 60 minutes, we arrived at terminal 2, which is exclusively reserved to Easyjet.

We went to Alitalia’s check-in counter 14, which is at the end of T1. We didn’t have to wait long, but the Sky Priority side was pretty crowded.

As I made my way to the boarding area, I sized the moment to photograph the airport and do some plane-spotting. Security check was a little busy, and so it took about a quarter of an hour to go through the checkpoint.

I went through passport control in 30 seconds! There was almost nobody at the EU side.

Once past the duty free zone, I headed to my boarding gate. It was a long way and not very well signaled, especially for those who don’t speak Italian! This can be partly explained by the renovation work that this part of T1 is going through to make it easier for passengers to access the PAXBUS (passenger bus) boarding gates.

At around 11:30, boarding began via PAXBUS. Sky Priority was respected.

Unlike with LIN (thank you, TIM Mobile), there were no filters over the windows of the PAXBUS, making plane-spotting easier.

I arrived in the airplane and directly took my place at seat 11A. A drink and a savory snack were served 30 minutes after take-off. A glass of white wine for me.

About 60 minutes after take-off, the meal was served. I had the chicken with, potato gratin, peas, and spinach. There was a starter dish of charcuterie and a tiramisu for dessert. The main dish was really very good, especially the gratin. The charcuterie was also very good, but the cheese was a bit dry. The tiramisu perfectly concluded the meal. And, of course, a glass of white wine!

I was looking forward to flying Alitalia because it prides itself in having the best in-flight food in the world. I don’t know if it’s really the best, but for me it is the best among the Skyteam airlines with flights to the US that I have tried (Delta-Alitalia-KLM-AF).

After having digested, it was time for a little tour of the cabin.

Complimentary drinks and snacks were available throughout the flight.

After a couple of movies, we were approaching JFK and a light meal was served. A delicious focaccia. It was so good that the flight attendant offered me a second one. I didn’t say no.

We arrived in JFK via Long Island. We land on time and head to T1, passing by an SV and two Lufthansa along the way.

The seat was comfortable and reclination was very good. Thinking that there wouldn’t be any class partitions (as has already happened to me with Delta), I chose this seat because of its closeness to the exit, which allowed me to get through immigration faster, and to have more legroom to be able to stretch my legs.

And it worked.

There was no one there when I reached immigration! I went through in 3 minutes. Perfect!

I check my bag at the Delta check-in counter for my connection to Boston and head to T2…

Comfort-wise, the reclination was good enough. However, if you want to stretch your legs to take a nap, the legroom is – how can I put it – a little cramped. Still, for a day flight, that isn’t much of a problem.

Very nice flight. I am very satisfied with my first long-distance flight with Alitalia.
