I was in 16J on this A340, a plane I haven't flown in some time. The premium voyageur class is acceptable in terms of leg room and seat width. The seat itself is hard, which makes for difficulty sleeping (imagine sitting on a boiler plate).
At first the entertainment system for my seat was not functioning, but I alerted the crew, who rebooted it and then it worked fine.
The film selection is good, with lots of choices. The TV series, however, rarely seem to change on AF.
The flight boarding was not as smooth as I am accustomed to. Standing first in the Sky Priority line, I was told to step aside for business class passengers.
As a platinum for life, I board AF planes almost once a week and this hasn't happened before. Soon I was able to board, in any event, where I received the usual cheery welcome and directions to my seat.
The food was edible, a hot chicken dish with rice and a tasty sauce. The wine was nondescript, but plentiful.
The flight left on time and arrived 10 minutes early. The announcements were clear, and sufficient, not overly verbose. AF's personnel could use some English pronunciation lessons, but the French was easy to understand (I am bilingual).
The flight attendant who waited on me throughout the flight seemed enthusiastic for her work. Service was very pleasant and competent.
